Title: Quick spoiler and window question?
Post by: gav525 on 06 November 2009, 16:40:48
Got hold of a bootlid with an Irmscher spoiler attached to it and cant for the life of me get it off? Whats the best way?

Also, the other day when i put my passenger side window down, part of the frame came with it! Its the bit that runs up the B-Pillar and the window wouldnt close again, so i had to pull it up. Is this a common thing, and how easy fixed is it?

Thanks, Gav

Boot spoilers can be really stuck.  Thinks theres a bolt or three to remove then carefull use of a high breaking strain fishing line can work.  Or not..... :y

.... as they can be stuck on with sikkaflex or similar both from the factory and if done by a subsequent owner.

Had the same with my boot that I bought off someone.

There is a way, but you'll need a lot of patience.

Get a blade out of a stanley knife, and carefully work it between the boot bodywork, and the spoiler itself, and work all the way around where the sealent is.  Then it should come off.  But what every you do, when your nearing getting all of the sealent off, DONT be tempted to grab the spoiler and peal it off the boot, as you probably end up putting a crease in the spoiler and it'll be fit for the bin then !.

Bear in mind it could take up to a couple of hours of careful picking of the seal.

I'd be surprised if there are any bolts to it, as I think there were only bolts for the Estate versions of the rear spoilers ?.

Hope that helps ?.
