Evening all. I am rather stuck at the moment. The garage back home has jammed a locking wheel nut on with their gun. Tried budging the nut by hand and it's having none of it! I don't really have the right tools for the job up here in Runcorn as I work away during the week and the real tools are down in Chelmsford ~200miles.
Does anyone know a good garage in the area that I could get them to crack off the nut and fit a tyre I have in the boot? Granted any garage could potentially do it but I'd rather not end up at a cowboy outfit. The tyre on there is ok but low, so much for an easy job during the week :'(
Or if someone has a proper breaker bar in the area and wouldn't mind giving me a hand, that would be awesome. I have normal nuts to go back in as a stopgap and can get the tyre guy back round. Beer tokens on offer :)

do you have the standard GM jack wrench with you? If so use that, then find some leverage. I used the GM wrench + handle from a standard jack to give extra power....

Aye, they not great, they make pre-facelift MV6 alloy look like titanium, but he's up poo creak at the mo so worth a punt i guess?

Already given it a go with the GM wrench but I can try again tomorrow after locating some more leverage (and when it's not quite so freezing outside).

I was in Runcorn all day today but I only live about 1/2 an hour away so if you PM me your number I can bring my breaker bars with me ;)

10ft scaffold tube, with someone else's boot on the GM wrench.

if you strip the lock nut best way to get security nut off is to get a long IMPACT socket that is a tight fit (if 19mm use 18 or 17) on the locking stud head and hammer it on the stud then use a 1/2 breaker bar to remove trust me it works

I carry a breaker bar and 17mm impact driver with me.

Normally I do carry these and a torque wrench but I was racing a couple of weekends ago and took it out for the MR2 :(
I could have worked this out, the locking nut has a collar on it. I couldn't get enough purchase using the GM wrench so took it to a mechanic in the area. He showed me it slipping off. I didn't see him put the locking nut on the wheel but having looked at the nut a few mins ago I think he tried it with the collar extended, hence it was gripping with a tiny bit and slipped :-[ Something to try tomorrow and I'll let you know what happens.
