Title: Dashboard Emmissions Light - What does it mean?
Post by: stueysheep on 11 November 2009, 11:24:18
I have a 2001, 85,000 miles 2.2 petrol automatic.

On odd occasions over the last four months the amber spanner light came on during a longish drive, but went out again after parking up.

On Saturday, another light came on and stays on. It's the amber light with an outline of the engine on it?

What's it mean please and should I be worried?

Is it a Main Dealer only fix?

The paper clip test is a way of flashing up fault codes, unfortunately your is one of few cars that you can NOT paperclip. Your problems are likely to be pre cat lamdda sensor issues.

Shame, so that will be a main dealer then? or will a local garage be able to sort it?

A local garage should have a code reader capable of taliking to your car. If you fill in your profile you might find someone local to you who might have a reader. There are varuious readers though that are quite afordable to buy for personal use. I'm sure that others will be able to advise which better tha I could.

have a look here ......
