You need to check the 'vacum pipes', there are loads, so switch on engine, open the hood and 'listen' for the sound of air escaping, spray WD40 or Carb Cleaner were the sound is, if revs increase you have found the problem, also check and clean 'Idle Valve'.

Sounds like it is sucking in air from somewhere, best check for any bad connections.

They do idle worse when they get hot. You shouldn't really see over 90. I bet one of your fans isn't working. On mine one of the two at the front of the radiator had failed. Once fixed, and with the aircon on auto the car temperature is rock solid even towing a caravan it doesn't exceed 90.

Good chance....

Remove one electrical connector to the rear and an air pipe to the front then prise from the rubber bung on the plenum.

Good squirt of carb cleaner into the valve, cover both holes with fingers and give it a good 'cocktail' shake for a few minutes.  pour out muck and repeat.  Numerous times....  DO NOT be tempted to use any screwdriver or other sharp scratchy thing down the slot as you will cause dameage and make the problem worse.  Prior to refitting, drop a few drops ( 4 or 5) of 3-in-1 oil  (not engine oil, its too heavy) into the mechanism and refit.

Once done, use a carefull squirt of carb spray/brake cleaner/WD40 around ALL the air connections on the top end.  If a leak is present, the idle speed will vary. rectify any leaks found.

seemples!   ;D

Would also suggest that you check throttle cable tension although that will more than likely increase revs and make them stay high rather than hunting....
