Hi all after removing the ICV the other day when changing a lead I thought I would give it a clean. I sprayed it with carb cleaner then gave it a few drops of 3 in 1 oil. Now the idle speed is jumping from 500 to 1200 rpm and has frequently stalled whilst driving.
Any ideas anyone :-/

Airleak maybe.
Time to get the carb cleaner out and have a good spray.

Give it another clean?
Is it possible that you managed to shift a lump of dirt that is floating around inside the valve and making stick?
-
Are you sure you have seated it correctly within the plenum on the large rubber bung ?
I would also take it off again and give it another really good bath in carb cleaner as before..then re oil and push it in tight and sqaure to the plenum.

Is there any way to to test the ICV and visually check the operation of the valve?

The 'ICV' is very sensitive, never use a screwdriver or anything metal, to clean it use 'carb cleaner' and leave it ti do it's job, overnight, then as said a light oil (3in1) is fine, then the rubber bung must be air tight, use tape to make sure. If you still have a problem replace it.

I saw the title 'IDLE PROBLEM' and thought, well, what do you expect from Liverpool :y ;D
But yes, air leak or a sticking valve, they do take quite a bit of cleaning out.
