Title: what size alloys can be fitted?
Post by: mathewst on 12 November 2009, 13:13:32
Well I'm back on the forum after a flue.
Still not feeling very well but the blasted work can't wait too long.
Ok won't bother you guys with problems but want to know a few things.
I've talked with my fioncees' brother in law.
He used to have a mig and said he normally put Mercedes Benz alloys on it.
Is this possible?
I know Opel/Vauxhall alloys are 5x110 and Mercs are different.
If it iss possible can it cause any problems?

I have seen merc alloys on a Vectra. I think they have to use wobble bolts to fit them though.  :-/

As Ian says if they're 5 x 108 or 5x 112 then you can use wobbly bolts.
Anyone confirm Merc Pcd?

Hi,

if the links have worked correctly (see below), try looking at the list which will explain each manufacture pcd and centre bore spec's.

Basically whilst not a cheap way of doing it, at least you'll know that the wheels will sit on the hub correctly.

Hope it helps ?

What are wobbly bolts?

Wheel bolts that have a 'cup' under the bolt head to allow a degree of movement as the bolts are done up to accomodate small differences in wheel Pcd and recieving hub size.

As mentioned before only work +/- 2mm

I've checked them on ebay and they are pretty expensive I must say, with posatge around 65 pounds and that is not a small amount.
I guess I'll stick to my alloys but have to have them wellded and painted

merc rims are 5x112 - the vw guys use them. Could also consider Bently rims then!  ;D

Personally I dont like the idea of incorrect fitment wheels botched to fit- its all that is holding you on the road!
