Hi
I've been told I need to find a tech 2 in order to resync my new key fob? I assume I can just contact a Vx dealer and they can do it for me.
Any idea on cost?
Cheers

Yep - expensive. Try one of the members on here with a tech2 :y
-
Thank dbug
is there anyone in the Wiltshire area?
-
Guess Kevin Wood is your nearest Tech2 - Hamps I think.

As i posted on the other thread ::)
Either Alton, Hampshire or Brackley on the Oxon/Bucks/Northants border
Be cheaper than taking it to a dealer :y

Please don't laugh at me!!!
But I notice that they sell Tech2 on ebay. Would this answer my key problem

A genuine Tech2 as used in VX dealerships is circa £2500 upwards.
The e-bay 'Tech2' is an alternate that uses a laptop and software of unknown foreign extraction but cannot do all the functions of the real thing. Such as keys. Fine for limited things - someone with one will do doubt elucidate - but like a certain fizzy drink, you cant beat the real thing! ;D

But why buy, when you can have it fixed and make new friends along the way???? ;D

A proper Tech2 (standalone diags tool) and a cheapo tech2 (cheap chinese device needing a laptop) are miles apart. Hence why one is £30, the other is 100 times that price ;)
See FAQ section, there is a description of readers :)

TB, mine was £27 delivered and it does programme replacement keys, it also removes the old stored data of the key/s that originally came with the car but are now lost/stolen etc. which is a boon if you have lost your spare/s and are worried about getting your car nicked. ;) :y

I suspect I know what one that is.
2 things:
a) Illegal copy, no discussion on this site
b) It makes a right mess of programming - it makes a mess of some ECUs (as in renders them unusable). Beware!

The key programming gave the game away ;)
Beware of any programming from that device, it really is flakey. Still, it keeps me busy fixing its messes ;D

but you would still need the car pass if you not have it to do keys e.g locking alarm etc would you not? ;)
