Title: Auto rattle!

Bought a 2.2 auto recently, everything fine except.....
I have a rattle coming from the auto gear selector, seems to only rattle going over bumps in the road.
Any fix for this? ....common problem?

Not sure if its common Mick but mine does this also, never affected the running of the car though :)

Daft as it sounds, does the gear leave move from side to side a little if you try to move it ?.  Could it be something simple like the bolts have come a little lose and just need tightening ?.

Yes there is some sideways movement, I'll have a look tomorrow.
