hi my 2.0l automatic omega wont turn over. have tried starter motor, battery, parking inhibitor and have pulled the fuse to immobilizer but still a non runner. any suggestions welcome
-
can you turn the crank by hand?
-
yes
-
Has this only just happened. Any prior signs of faults apparent eg: EML light flashing, display lights acting strange (dimming/pulsating) :question
-
has been playing up for a while -not starting.some times she does some times she dont. hunts the revs when in drive. stalls occasionally when you take foot off accelerator.and alarm take ages to go off.
-
EML occasionally

Right, just to clarify. Engine has been starting erratically. idles erratic (when running) but now it won`t turn over at all or it won`t start. Which option :question Suggest doing the paperclip test for fault codes http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

Where are you Rottie? Maybe someone is local enough to help ;)

Not local to me then ;D
Have you done a paperclip test on it yet?
-
Can you get someone to turn ignition while you see if you can hear the starter motor spinning. Starter could be jammed and not throwing "dog" onto flywheel :-/
If that`s a possibility you can try the old trick of tapping the starter with a mallet/hammer
-
do a paperclip test!
-
not done paperclip test yet, didnt realise it could be read without fault code reader or trip to garage.starter motor only clicks,it has been taken off recently and worked. drove it 3 mile then wouldn't turn over again.
-
As stated previously. Paperclip it using my link or Wellung`s link.
Does sound like a faulty starter or an intermittent earthing fault
-
will do the test this week and report back later

Is the battery charged up?
-
Had the same problem on my daughters car,we slave started it.Got it home it wouldn't start.
Checked battery drain 1.5 amps which was obviously draining the battery. Took it to motor factors for a heavy discharge test was ok. Seriously baffled, anyway stuck "My Naff Code Reader" on an discovered a fault recorded on infotainment system cleared it with "My Naff Code Reader" and not had the same problem since.
So may be worth getting someone to stick "My Naff Code Reader" on the car to see if anything other than engine ecu is showing faults.
Same car r reg 2.0l omega estate auto.

try putting a jump lead from negative on battery and clip the other end to the engine (starter) do the same again this time put lead from battery to ecu to create a direct earth then see if it starts :y
-
battery ok but tried with jump pack anyway. wil try these suggestions but any more very welcome thanks :D

we finally moved the car today.a dodgy earth definately seems to have been the problem.thankyou guys!! :D :)
