Title: Decent Torx Sockets?
Post by: Omega3 on 03 December 2009, 17:15:59
Ok so the "most reliable Omega in the world" needs a few jobs doing. (Spoke too soon :P) Anybody know if the cheap torx sets on a rail on ebay are any good or should i be looking elsewhere, also what sizes will cover most jobs.

Buy a decent name. You get what you pay for with tools. Cheap is cheap.
Spend a little extra & you save money, because they'll last many years instead of five mins.

Always buy the best you can afford they will last longer and less likely to slip and round off the bolts causing even more grief  :y

I've found the following set to be very good if it's just torx bits you need:

one of the few criticisms i have of Halfords pro set is the 3/8 drive on the smaller torx sockets is a pain, the shank often seems to get in the way.

1/4 inch drive for the smaller size sockets where possible ime :-)

Ive found the Halfords to be made of toffee.

seem to brake one whenever i do something remotely hard...

yes there guarantee'd. but they also leave you stranded.

have now replaced with

We used to have the Snap -On Vanman visit every month when I worked in a Bodyshop and you could build up a great tool kit.

The tools were first class and guaranteed for life, but they were expensive and walking onto the back of his Van always meant you bought something new.

You gotta admit though, Snap-On tools just have that certain feel that tells the individual they are working with quality hardware.

I don't like how the new spanners feel in my hand. They're not rounded enough for my liking. King Dick for me= Very nice :) :) :) :) :)
