Hi,
the clutch on my '96 3.0 has finally bitten the dust. I've had a look on Buypartsby and have found their LUK clutch kits. They list two - Repset and Repsetpro.
"BuyPartsBy offers a model-specific RepSet or RepSetPro for repair work on all cars, commercial vehicles and tractor models.
Clutch discs, clutch assembly and clutch release bearings all play an essential part in professional repair work on a worn clutch. These components are included in the RepSet and guarantee safe function.
The RepSetPro also contains a concentric slave cylinder, which now combines the slave cylinder and release bearing in one component in one in every two cars. The concentric slave cylinder should be changed each time the clutch is replaced to avoid a delayed fault resulting in extra time in the workshop."
I couldn't find any reference to changing the slave cylinder in the maintenance guide. Which one should I get, seeing as there is a considerable difference in price?

The flexible hose to my
release bearing concentric slave cylinder failed at about 170,000 miles. Had to take the gearbox out to replace it.
Concentric slave cylinder and release bearing were still fine at 200,000 miles. Don't know of anyone having to replace one.

I think at that price it includes fitting. Geniune Vx Clutch Kit 3 Piece £191.02 + VAT

The repsetpro includes the concentric slave cylinder which you dont need as the bearing is seperate on the omega and comes in the standard kit.
At 125.97+vat its good value given they are LUK kits which are exactly the same as Vx supply

£150 (inc VAT) gets you a brand new Quinton Hazell clutch kit.

Ordered the standard Repset clutch. The stealers quote was just parts!

Well the new clutch has arrived but without a replacement bearing >:(
Just have to hope that the current one is still OK! :-/

I wouldn't buy a second hand bearing, for what they cost I would buy new

Take it up with the supplier....it was in their description of the item for sale.
The old bearing is likely to be OK but if you can wait to get a new one it might save a repeat job later on. Been there, done that and learnt a lesson.

Need to get it done today unfortunately. Popped next door to the Vauxhall stealers - they had one in stock! They also wanted £68 (SIXTY EIGHT) pounds for it.... ::)

He'd already tried to sell me the whole kit for £743.....so I wasn't overly surprised.
Anyway, got the clutch done last night for £150 cash. First time in 18months the engine and drivetrain both work properly :D
When I first got the car it misfired. Fixed that and then the clutch began to slip. Looking forward to taking it for a decent shakedown run tomorrow :y
