any bubbles in the coolent, any water or mayo in the oil on the dip stick? If yes to either failed hg.

Although you need to let the coolent self bleed and top up as you go. Have you burped the large coolent pipes to get the air out as much as possible with the cap off? The coolent will expand and boil over if you take the cap off when hot. Let it cool, then take the cap off.

Re tick over are you sure the leads are fitted correctly and still firmly attached at the dis pac end?

there is mayo on dip stick and on filler cap but put that down to moisture in engine from being stud with out heads for nearly 4 weeks there does not appear to be any bubbles in header tank. took her for a spin to see if it would help clear it up on the tick over runs beautiful but will still not tick over proper. not too worried about tick over. my mates coming over with is laptop other thing i noticed when out driving the temp gage was up and down but not over heating even when left to tick over for an hour.

change the oil asap and keep an eye on it.

The coolent system is self bleeding and pressureised to prevent it boiling, it can take a couple of days for the level to settle.

Tick over may just be the idle controle valve, clean and make sure its seated correctly to plenum with no air leaks.

Probably just settling down after the rebuild by the sound of it. Best of luck and welcome to oof by the way. :-)
