I have a 98 2.5V6 which has done 93000 but for some time I have noticed that it seems to get very hot even after a short run. Sometimes there is steam (not too much but it's a little unnerving - at least it's not smoke as far as I can tell) coming from under the bonnet, driver's side. At no time does the temperature gauge indicate something amiss. Any ideas?

Any ideas?
Special effects courtesy of the exhaust manifolds.
Check your HBV (heater bypass valve). Prone to spilling random quantities of coolant. Depending on how the pipes have been fitted it can either run down the bellhousing or drip on to the exhaust manifold.
If it is smoke then check your cam cover gaskets.

Thanks for that Andy.
