Title: Tyre size for 18"
Post by: Proz on 07 December 2009, 23:13:27
Hi
Forgive me if this has been covered before but ... my car has 16" alloys with 225/55/16s just now .... if i want to put on 18" alloys should i go for 45 or 40 profile to keep the speedo accurate ....... also with my 16" at the moment my speedo seems 3-4 mph faster than what my gps says .... ie car says 60mph , gps says 56-57 mph.... which one is the right reading  ..... im confused  :D

Thanks  :y

I used one of the convertion things and it said 45 was less than 1% difference to whats on just now ... i think the 40s were -2.4% or round about there but the 40 seems the more common fitting ... so would that mean the speedo would be more out or less ..... i think i need to find some local alloy dealer for some advice  :-/
