After adjusting the headlights properly on the beam allignment jobbie at my mates garage I tried to start the car but due to headlight being on without engine running the battery had gone to low.
Not a problem, connected up the booster charger I've used countless times previously and went to start the car.
It turned over and then the Glo-Plug preheat light came on and stayed on, even with ignition off.
I checked the connections on the battery and found that the Positive Lead from the booster had slipped and was touching the black back plate of the ECU.
I've tried disconnecting the battery and reconnected in the hope that something would re-set, but no joy.
Can't see any relevant fuses that have blown.
Any other suggestions on what it may be or is it a case of sourcing a replacement ECU ?

What about using the ECU from your other tractor?
IIRC, an earlier ECU will work on a newer model, but not vice-versa. I remember Omegatoy explaining it to me in the past. (Will see if I can find confirmation).

I did ponder over that, but the older tractor is an auto and I thought that may mean they are not compatible.

Hmmm, I can't seem to find the info that I'm looking for, so as to confirm either way.
Not sure it matters whether it's auto, just need the last three digits off the ECU number, (something like '427' or '428'). Wish that I could assist further mate!
Omegatoy seems to know his stuff here, perhaps you could try a 'PM'?

My current ECU (or what's left of it) is a 427. Not sure what the other one is. I'll check it out tomorrow. Typical, first day of a week off.

Phew...it lives ! :D
Used the ECU of my spares car. Had to modify the end fitting with a tapping spanner and a narrow tip chisel. I thought I'd need to swap the key transponder etc but the key to my old Mig is an aftermarket non O/E jobbie, so I thought what the heck, worth a try.
The cruise control no longer works, but that's not a major issue. May even be just a relay or fuse.
