Title: small hose from cam cover to breathers
Post by: mathewst on 08 December 2009, 14:51:22
Can anybody tell me the diameter of the small hose (in mm preferably) which goes from cam cover to the back side of the breathers My original hose fell apart was in very bad shape and couldn't read the numbers on it. I didi put a replacement (6 mm if I recall correctly) but am afraid it is too small and can cause problems. Thanks

Ok thank you.
Just one small notice.
I thinh both 6mm and 8mm hoses are of the same thickness outside.
Inside diameter is what matters I believe.

Easiest way is to measure the metal pipe the hose goes onto, you will find that it has a raised section at the end that the flexy pipe is pushed over and the straight section immediately behind the raised bit is the internal diameter of the flexy pipe you need.
gudluk

at work at the mo (i know! wtf!  ;D)

Can't recall how thick it is, if you like i can get you one from the Vx dealer here, and post it to you? I remember buying one as its cheaper to replace than buy a can of carb cleaner.

Think it was £1.20 or something silly.....

One more thing Tunnie.
Did you ever change the petrol filter on yours(if it is saloon)?
I saw a how to in the maintenance section but it is for estate. I actually have no idea where the filter is for saloon, and still cannot check anything since my mig is still in friends hand :'(

It's up behind the right hand rear wheel. Half an hours job to change.

As above, also worth wearing some googles for it, as if its old they have a nasty habbit of covering you in petrol.

Also make sure it goes on the right way (it has a directional arrow)

The bl00dy monkeys who woked on my car before i had it, mounted it the wrong way!  >:(
