Hello, I googled omega's and found this site. I hope someone can help me.My father in law died recently and I have made the mistake of not starting his car for a while. Although it started ok 5 wks ago I cant even get the car door open now using the remote fob or the 2 kays I have! Is this a main battery problem and how do I get into the car even to open the bonnet and charge the battery? Its an 96 2.5 deisel v6 elite estate. Any ideas folks?

Try the key in the door the old fashioned way! :y
No, I'm not taking the P ;) It'll be stiff, but it should still turn although the button won't pop up as normal.
Failing that, put 12 volts across the termainals at the starter motor and open using the fob! :y

As Andy says, use the key in the door, you might think its going to snap the key but it will open ;)

Key will work in lock but will be very stiff, feels like it will break, it won't break, does work :y

Give the lock a squirt of 3-in-1 or plusgas in through the keyhole .. leave to stand for 10 minutes then try ... might help but it is a stiff turn.
I make a point of giving the mechanism a squirt and opening via the key from deadlocked once a month , after having serious problems with the old Omega.... at least on that one I was able to open the boot and get access via the "ski panel" then push a seatback down and open a rear door ...
On this one .. no chance ... no way into the boot, and even if there was .. an LPG tank in the way !!
So I take no chances and keep the lock as free as possible :) :)

The boys on here just love this problem, because they all get to give their favourite answer and they know it works every time.

Thanks guys, you were all right. Got the car open at last but she's as flat as a pancake! Will go to work on her over the Xmas break.
Thanks again
