my right hand cat has dieded on my 2.5v6...quik fit £240 ...there's some on ebay for £87 are these any good?? or does somebody have second hand one for sale ?? ;D

before it arrives, spray all bolts on the exhaust manifold and exhaust to cat in WD40 every day. :)
EDIT - Assuming the exhaust manifold needs to come off for cat removal, same as 2.2? :-/

Worked well enough for me when the exhaust flexi went, sprayed it every day, bolts came off easy, granted its not the best, but its what most people have access to.

Manifold does not have to come off to change the cat on a V6.
Also I find the bolts come out easier if you work on a hot exhaust, just make sure all skin is covered.

My cat went and I asked the Vauxhall main delaer who advised very strongly against cheap aftermarket items and quoted £644+vat for a genuine one.
As they are helpful, they said best to buy a genuine one from a breaker as the cheap aftermarket ones cause sensor issues and disintegrate after a year or so.
Turns out they were absolutely right-the knackered rattling one welung666 took off mine was a very shiny new aftermarket one with one chamber, replaced with an older original VX two chamber unit, worked perfectly.
So-the orginal one failed after 8 years, the previous owner fitted a brand new cheap aftermarket one which failed after 18 months or so, a good original VX one has cured the problem.
From my experience as above and the advice from VX about cheap ones causing issues (apparently one client had four cheap ones give him grief and ended up spending the £644+vat on a VX one in the end), I would recommend buying a good solid original VX one from a breaker.
