Title: V6 EGR
Post by: tunnie on 24 December 2009, 11:23:33
Its been a while since i worked on the V6 lump, but i remember when taking the 22mm for the EGR pipe off, the pipe itself should just fall away, this one feels like its jammed in?  :-?

I've taken the nut off, but the damn pipe won't move.

correct, as you already removed torx bolt to bracket.  The egr pipe wont move much, but as you lift plenum off, should break away

Ta, back to it then, could have sworn on your 2.5V6 project it just used to fall out, but maybe that was because we had the plenum off about 1000 times  ::)

I think the nut pushes an olive into the tapered socket in the EGR.

Tapping the stainless steel pipe from side to side (gently so as not to damage the pipe) should free it.

whooo plenum off, felt solid, but bit of brut force and it was off  :)

Before i take the inlet manifold off i thought i would find this 'b@astard' bolt, but where is it?

I have located the main feed pipe from the rad, do i have to take this off for the bolt to present itself?

Look at the pic tunnie put in and the *bolt* is the one you can see the head of in the hole of the dipstick plastuic handle.
The thing is known as the bastard bolt for a reason too as yoiu will definitely find out.
GudLuk and order plenty of new skin and patience!

Follow the dipstick tube down and about level with the power steering pipe and to the right iirc of the dipstick tube you should find the barsteward bolt.

Just pull off the top radiator hose (it's got to come off anyway!) The 'stard bolt is then securing the pipe that you pulled the rad. hose from. (and the dipstick tube)

The Bastard Bolt holds the Dipstick, Transfer Pipe and the Engine Lift Bracket.

If you look for the engine lift bracket on the passenger side Tunnie and run your hand under it you will feel a bolt, that is it.
If you kneel with your eye level on the top of the passenger wing you should just be able to see it. :y
