Title: 2.5 td, Coolant Bleeding

evening all

is there a way to bleed the coolant system on my 1999 2.5 td.

Does the TD have any issues re bleeding? With any car I've only ever slowly filled the system, 'burping' hoses as I do so. Start the car and slowly top up as the coolant level goes down. Ensure the cap is on before it gets to temp & just keep an eye on the level over the next day or 2  :y

there is tap at the rear of the engine block, by far the best way on TD. Forget the socket size, but its on the drivers side right at the back.

Be prepared to get wet  ;D

He's bleeding the system not draining it!!!  :-?  ;D

Sorry for the short and sweet question earlier, my mobile battery was on its last legs and i didn't think it would even have the power to finish that question off.

Basically this is a recurrence of what happened a couple of weeks before xmas. It blows all its water out of the expansion tank due i thought to a faulty exp tank cap.

I have driven over 500 trouble free miles since then even though i never replaced the cap. It was the run up to xmas so as it was running well and money was tighter than a ducks chuff.

Went out in it today and it just wouldn't heat the cabin, noticed the temp was fluctuating and getting a bit hotter than usual but cabin stayed proper cold. It then clicked the cap off the exp tan and proceeded to pump about 5 litres of coolant on the floor.

I have topped this up but it keeps pumping it straight back out, this is why im wondering if it has any way of bleeding it manually.

Any trapped air will generally find its way to the header tank ie self venting. Even a CiH straight six & four that had a vent plug would self vent .... they generally had to as the 7 mm hex socket was often rounded due to people trying any Allen key but a 7 mm  :-? ;) :y

TD is self bleeding.
