Does anyone have any idea as to why i seem to have clod start problems on my 2.2? When started from cold it idles very lumpy to the point of almost stalling and seems to be missing when driven but once warm after only 5 minutes or so its fine, i can start it again an hour or so later and it ticks over fine, not sure where to start........ any ideas???

You'll need the codes reading to verify but could either be the inlet air temp sensor or the MAF. Where are you Michael?

Forgot to mention that the "car with spanner" warning light come on every so often but goes out if i turn the ignition off and doesn't come on again once re-started. I'm in Hertfordshire.

That's the ECU telling you that something is wrong. I think your closest tech2's are TheBoy or Kevin. Check out http://theboy.omegaowners.com for details ;)

Cheers mate, had it nearly a year now an not had any issues til now. Must say I've been quite happy with it considering its a car i was told by everyone to steer clear of. I'll get it checked out asap.

What were you told to make you think that? The Omega in general is an excellent car, although I find the 2.2 a little underpowered.

To quote my mate who works for the AA "bag of shite" and "the head gasket will go on you within the first six months" and this seemed to be the opinion of everybody else but i think it's been fine til now and even with the cold start problem drives just as good as ever, i agree the 2.2 is underpowered for a car of that size but just wanted to try an auto for a change to see how i got on with it. Do hope the problems are not too drastic though!!

Head gaskets are only common if the servicing isn't carried out religiously. Oil and filter change every 5k, coolant change with a full flush every 2 years and cambelt, tensioners and waterpump every 4 years or 40k whichever happens first.
I doubt they are drastic problems though as I've previously said :y

Well its due a service, full Vx history upto 83000 so might as well get the lot done...... looked at getting a BMW before the Omega but for double the money i didn't think i was getting twice the car!!

Underpowered feeling may relate to cold start issue as may not be running 100%.
Mine varied hugely after relevant works including tech2 software updates, manifold gasket, major service, several short oil changes and so on, and is now very sprightly in sport and returns 30-35mpg.
See list of works:

Don't let this put you off...

'dangle berries'!
My 2.2 is on 131k and its original head gasket. HG's can fail, but its down to poor coolant maintenance.
My money is on the cam sensor, you need to get the codes read

Shame you're HerTfordshire, not HerEfordshire as I have the (cheapo) diagnostic tool and program to read and clear the codes.
Anyone nearby?

It does sound like cam sensor problems.
My best advice to you would be to contact either Kevin Wood or The Boy on here by PM.
They will give you a far better (and cheaper) diagnostic than any dealer, or independant.
