Was the selecctor switch adjusted correctly. When the fault appears do all the gear lights illuminate

What were the fault codes?

Rob G , The Boy thanks for reply.

1st  I can only assume it was fitted correctly as I was not around when done. could be that it was not set back up correctly although, i did give the mech a copy of insturctions previously sent to me last week from the forum.

2nd.  I was not driving the car when this first happened. my wife was in it. when pressing the computer button gearbox falt came up.

As TB says, paperclip it and see if there are any engine fault codes. Quite a few problems will put the box in limp mode. Failing that you would need to get the box ecu read for codes (tech II). http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

Thanks Rob.

Any one near Royston herts have a TechII , and would be willing to have a look for me ?

Will see if I can get the paperclip test done if not.

Yeah get the pun. I will go around to the mech tomorrow. have printed off how to do the paper clip test. will let you all know what transpires. he said he followed the instructions on how to remove clean and reset the slector but you never know. unfortunatly my garage is so full of junk I can not get in there to try myself.

paperclip test will only read engine codes (engine can put box into limp, but this sounds like a box fault). Ideally need box codes read (which can't be done with paperclip).

Have you properly checked ATF level?

yes this was the first thing that was done .  went through earlier threads on here to check how to check atf. How can the box codes be read?

Of real Tech2 owners, probably me.  A few members around your way have decent readers, if one of them is not too busy, they may volunteer to read them for a beer token :)
