any ideas fault code p0420
took car to v/hall told req new cat plus new exhust manafold due to a hair line crack price inc lab££££
went to kwick fit they told me cat is fine iam going back on saturday for further look due to eml still on,could the crack on the manafold bring up this fault code.

Yes a cracked manifold could cause it, it'll be drawing air in the crack and affecting the o2 readings.

i understand the manifold will req replacing would this be quite easy for me to do ie undo a couple of nuts and replace the seals,or is tere a lot more involved

Ideally you'll need to get 10 x studs, 10 x nuts from Vx to replace the ones currently fitted, a new genuine Vx multi-layer gasket and a replacement manifold (2nd hand OK). Couple of hours work to the less experienced :y

Put that away and get yourself some proper penetrating fluid, PlusGas or the like :y

Plusgas is an easing/releasing agent. WD40 is IMHO a waste of time :y
