Title: HG sympytoms?
Post by: Gaffers on 31 December 2009, 13:38:54
Me again,

Right, after my coolant dump on a spirited drive I fixed the leak and it seems to be running ok, except when I blip the throttle after leaving it to idle for a little bit, then I get what I can only assume is a misfire  :'(

Has my HG gone?

If you blip it from idle it does make like a hiccup should we say, don't normally just pick up straight away.

Mine don't anyway

I know, but I am wondering what could cause this hesitation....

wouldn't the system blow up pressure and blow pipes off before fans cut?

Crank sensor it is, then....

Probably as a result of the cable being distrurbed, and already brittle, hence finishing it off, when the cooler job was done....

Wouldnt that stop me from starting the car though?  If thats all I am a very happy chappy.

It doesn't always just result in starting problems - sometimes stalling, cutting out, hesitation..... and general poor running, if the ECU doesn't know where the crank is at..  :y

Whrn my crank sensor was defective, it would start up ok and then cut later.

Will this affect emissions at all?

The local stealers are proving useless yet again and now closed  >:(

Worth a mention. When my head gasket went it was an external leak on the left hand bank, at the rear.
As a result both were removed and needed welding then skimming, the right hand one was showing signs of corrosion meriting the repair to that one as well.
