This is really doing my head in! I have just bought another top heater matrix hose and I am puzzled by its appearance. There is a green plastic split ring around the speedfit connector end of it. What is it for? it does not appear to do anything and I am not sure it is even fitted correctly. The hose was supplied in the 'lockring back' position and nothing appears to be damaged.
Has anyone got a pic of the end that clearly shows the green rings placement? I have looked at the maintenance guide and although it describes how to, it does not show the end in any clarity as the green ring on mine is not shown at all.
Must get this job done to get the heaters working fully as the one on at present is not sealing correctly.
Cheers

I replaced mine, the ring in fact fell off and it has had no consequences. I would suggest its yet another over engineered part.

Thanx guys but the link provided is where I have already been. It does not show a clear piccy of the business end and not in the locked position either. The green ring is totally absent from the piccy.
Maybe an electric heater, if possible, would be best!
I know I had an old LandRover with one fitted years ago (donkeys years that is). Don't laugh! These old bones are suffering. Not only a kneetrembler but all the others too.

The green ring is left over from fitting and is not required :y
confused me too :y

Green ring will come loose once the connector is fully home.
iirc it is only there to protect the internal o rings on a new hose.

Thanx Matchless - now to get the thing sorted and some heat back on before both knees sieze up completely.
