Title: Automatic Gearknob
Post by: rossi46 on 05 January 2010, 16:37:35
Hi, em is there anybody who has changed the standard automatic gearknob from an Omega facelift with something more modern, like from a signum or vectra ect?

Cheers

Not that i know of , i think that the hard part is with it having the Sports button on the top would make it hard.

only thing you can do is put a cover of some sort on, combination of the sports button and mechanical lever, they are custom to the Omega.

Although looking at the more 'modern' ones in likes of BMW 5 Series, i'd prefer the Omega style

The Sport button is only a switch, you could use an old Trafficmaster one for example. The difficult bit would be to rig up a catch, to stop reverse being engaged at speed. You would also have to make sure the inhibitor switch was connected up.

I started to look into this, and someone on here suggested an Astra H gear knob might fit, or be easily modded to fit.

I didn't get any further as other things got in th eway.
