Title: Bleed Valve, Cooling system? Engine Overheating!
Post by: philipfirth on 07 January 2010, 20:18:51
Hi All Again. Is there a bleed valve on the cooling system?

Found my HBV is leaking (which is from another post), which is being fixed tomorrow.

Been told that the HBV wont cause the engine to overheat, but it is overheating like hell! Coolant is topped right up so it cant be that there is no coolant in the so im thinking ive got a massive airlock.

How can I get rid of the airlock?

Sorry for being a pain lol

Phil

If the HBV is leaking  air WILL be getting in to the system to replace the missing water .... as the system is "sealed" at the header tank the air can only get in via the HBV as well, given the position of the HBV it is certainly possible that an air lock is building up in critical areas IMHO .. :(

"burping" may remove the present air, but more will enter as the leak continues

So leave it as it is then until I replace the HBV?

Nightmare getting to work with no heating and the engine overheating! Oh well.

Thanks

I wouldn't be driving it if that is happening ... heading for far more serious problems I think ....  :(
