Can anyone help me with this.Im going to replace the rad on my auto in the next few days and what i want to know is do i just connect it all up and thats it or do i have to put the car in every gear etc to get the oil from the gearbox running though

Just start it up & drive it!
:y :y :y

Yup, as above, if its empty of ATF though, i would maybe give it 15 seconds or so with just the ignition on, then start, leave for another 10 seconds or so, then drive off.
Just give it a little bit of time to let the ATF flow

What's that going to do? No ATF will flow till the car's running & in gear. ;)

I do it after i have done any major work, no real reason, just time to make sure its not leaking massive amounts of fluid anywhere, no warning lights staying on for any longer than usual

Doesn't the ATF constantly pump around the system regardless of gear selection?
Edit: Sorry, just saw that with 'ignition on' and not 'with car running' My bad. :D
