Title: cutting out
Post by: omega 44 on 05 January 2010, 14:48:07
i have owned my 2L petrol omega CD for 2 weeks now and i bought it knowing it had a few problems
im quite handy with general mechanics as i have rebuilt engines etc, but havent got a clue about electrics.
every now and then when i pull up at lights or coast it will cut out, it will start up first time but will cut out at the next set of lights, it will do this for about 3-5 mins then it is fine
it will do this 3-4 times a day.
the engine management light isnt on
if any one could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated

check the maintenance guide section, look for cleaning the ICV, (idle control valve)

I had the exact same thing on my Omega when I bought it. I'm not promising but I changed the MAF - took me two mins, cost £15 from a generous member and runs like a new car!

my 2.0 CD is going through the same atm... ive been told to check (and i hav found that) the breathers are not chocked up (the small one on mine is)
ive been told to Clean the small breather pipe out, clean the jet that it goes to, clean the ICV and have the oil and filter changed... not too big a job, its just a pain to do it in this weather, with very light daylight time and no hours in the day to do it in
