Title: Depo headlamps
Post by: Hannah Judes Dad on 11 January 2010, 23:23:29
I have just noticed that my tourer has a set of depo headlamps fitted rather than hella that are on my cdx. They are in a much better condition than the ones on my cdx,is it worth swapping them over?It does mean I will have to get another set of nightbreakers though(bugger)

On a 96 with the lights with the ribbed and almost opaque looking lights, the headlight lamps are different from the later style projector headlight with the clear lens.

If the Depo lights are the same style as the Hella then the lamps should transfer across. If different style then they won't.

Hi
Why wont they?  I upgraded my original 1996 lights to projectors and then again on to HID's.  If one car is a facelift then it gets more difficult as the headlights are a slightly different shape to the early cars and the mini-facelifts.

I replaced a damaged Hella Lamp with 'Depo'

Every Depo lamp that was sent via mail order was damaged!

The plastic chrome insert is designed to move with the xenon lamp.

Each was broken and the supplier admitted everyone he checked in storage was too!

Take care when ordering Depo lights! Get the supplier to check the insert is not broken!

Sorry if I did not explain it properly. What I meant was the lamps (bulbs) are different. As I was unsure which lights the OP had, I tried to describe the differing types of headlight.

Yes of course you can fit new headlights from a later model, I have done that myself, but I believe the OP needed to no if he needed new lamps (bulbs) or not.

Sorry if I caused any confusion.

so does this mean I can keep my nightbreakers and just do an inner workings swap from my old headlamps?

I got mine from Germany, being a LHD. They arrived to the UK fine fully intact by courier. They even survived the plane journey in my suitcase, so they should have some strength in them.
