Hy all, I'm from Romania, and I have a '94 Opel Omega, with the 2.0 16v engine, and automatic AF25 Transmission.
Recently I towed a friend's Audi A6, and since then I have problems with my gearbox. The clutch plates are slipping, and I need a replacement gearbox. (Repair is not an option, it would cost around 600 pounds)
My problem is that I could only find a gearbox from a 2.5i engine. As far as I know the 2.5 has an AF35 transmission. What is the difference between the two gearboxes? Can I fit an AF35 on my 2.0L engine? What are the parts I should change?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Daniel

2.0ltr & 2.5 ltr boxes are the same although you may have to use your bellhousing and torque convertor

Are you certain the clutch plates are slipping?
Have you checked the oil level in the gearbox with the car level, oil warm and having run through the gears? Do that via the plug on the Right hand side of gearbox looking forwards.
Also the gearbox oil needs changing and the filter (or at least cleaning) approximately every 120,000 km depending on use. There is a guide on the forum on how to do the job.

I've checked the oil level, and toped it up 2 weeks ago. My gearbox was leaking oil, so every 2 months I would top it up with Dextron III. When oil was low the gearbox would'n engage the gear immediately, but it would in 2-3 seconds.
After I towed my friend the clutch for 1st and 2nd was comepletely trashed, and I could only start in the winter mode of the gearbox, in 3rd gear, but now that one is trashed as well.
Now it only engages reverse.
So i understand that the 2.5 and 2.0 have the same gearbox. I've read on the forum that AF35 gearboxes are stronger, but is there any other difference in them? If I find an AF35 gearbox, should I buy that one?
What else do I need from the 'donor' car besides the gearbox, and gearbox ECU?
Thanks

No gain fitting AR35 to a 2.0ltr.

2.0 does not have the power to warrant an AR35

Sorry for bugging you guys again,
Is there a difference between the 2.0 petrol and 2.5 diesel transmission? The one that I found was actualy from a diesel, not a petrol engine.

box is the same, but the bellhousing is differnt along with the Torque conveter (?)
