is there a relay for the power steering

would a faulty power steering solonoid valve or power steering control unit cause my power steering to stop working altogether

Have you checked the fuse ???  Although hydraulicaly operated it is electrically controlled, so fuse blows you loose power steering   :)

I think its fuse 14 .. also does:

Vauxhall alarm system,
cigarette lighter,
rear window blind,
electronic air conditioning,
heated rear window,
heated front seats,
heated wiper jets

yes done that ok

I've had a look at Marks Relay box list .. no sign of a relay there ... but there could be one somewhere else I guess .. :(

acording to haynes manual for 2.0 K41 says power steering control unit and Y25 is a power steering solenoid valve does that mean anything to you
