unfortunately youve probabaly wasted a bit of money...
the MAF error is often shown as a red herring along with the crank sensor.
Was the new one known good? could be dead on arrival.
do the paperclip test (as per link in my signature) and post back the results.
-
did you use a geniune crank sensor?
-
MAF was brand new from local motor factor and Crank sensor new from vauxhall dealer
-
Try starting it with MAF sensor diconnected.
-
Tried That too. The wierd thing is if i put on an old crank sensor it bangs and clanks all over the place when trying to start it as if timing is miles out BUT it eventually starts although its rough and under powered . The NEW crank sensor allows it to turn over smoothly but will not start.

you need to get a mark 1 crank and cam sensor as the new type will let you turn engine but dose not give the correct signal, they are cheaper then the new type. can get both for under £60. but have to be mark1. :y try these when there web page is working :yhttp://www.carpartsconnexion.com/vauxhall/default.asp

Is that why i dont get spark and if so has vx sold me the wrong sensor although they only list 1 for my car
-
there are two types mrk1 and mrk2 there is only a few places that you can get mrk1's from, as mine is mrk1 as well, the web address that left in post is the only place found that sell both types best to ge them changed at same time cam and crank so price is under £60. i was in same boat as you but found that there is two types they both have the same number as well but you have to explain that it is the mark 1 type and not 2, mark 2 is 1997 think. :y
