Im a bit confused ( doesnt take much)
I have heard that the pre facelift v6's needed them done at 40k but the later ones were 100k. Now mine is a 2001 facelift but i have been told as its the 2.5 its and 'old' engine so will need the 40k interval?
I have just hit 80k so would be due...
Cheers

do it every 40k or less...
-
40k or 4 years, whichever comes first.Same for all of them no matter when they were made.Once you go beyond thatits russian roullette. ;)
-
4 years or 40k... No more!
It's not the belt that gives up, it's the tensioners :o :o

Excellent...not!
Cheers guys, thats another thing to add to the list of to-do's as well as the huge hunk of rust i found under the rear arch last night.
No take out this month me thinks lol

If your not up to doing it yourself contact one of the travelling spanner twirrlers on the forum ie Darth Loo-Knee,for a good job at a good price. Many garages (including Vauxhall dealers) seem to make a pigs ear of the job and charge extortionate money for the privilege. :y

Sorry to jump on your post here Matt - hope you don't mind... I thought I'd double check the history with VX for the miggy - seems the belt was done at 49K in Feb 2006....
It's on 81K now.... and obviously will be 4 years next month having done 32K since change...
As I need to get the cam gaskets and breathers done - would it be an idea to get the belt and tensioners done at the same time (i.e less to remove due to gaskets being done etc...). Would Darth or James do a combo package deal? :)

Pretty sure Daz would ,and he is doing a tour of the London area this weekend. :y
-
On your unit, there is some benefit in doing both at once as the plenum needs to come off for both jobs
-
I would highly recommend you speak to Daz....

Have PM'd Daz - thanks everyone. :y
