I have a broken coil spring on the rear I am trying to find a supplier of springs for cars with self levelling suspension, are there any out there ?? or is it a stealers part only ?
What is the main difference between the coil springs on self level, and standard cars, other than the price !!
I have searched the site as I am sure this has been on here before but cannot find it ?
Cheers

im sure some one said for self levelers you need to do both of them at same time, and a list were to get them from.

you need to change both sides when you do ANY suspension work, irrespective of self leveller or not. :y

Suspension and braking parts should ALWAYS be replaced in pairs no ifs or buts :y
EDIT must type faster ;D ;D

Main dealer price not that bad and at least you know the quality will be reasonable. Had rear pair fitted on my previous 2.2 at around £170 all in

my understanding is vx retail price for springs is extortionate, and that self levelling springs are slightly softer than stock.
Also, from what i remember from a Mark DTM post, kyb (kayaba) do the full range of springs for the omega, but self levelling items are hard to find in their listings, so you may have to ring them. I beleive most motor factors have a kyb catalogue under the counter.

also just to confirm that you will get uneven ride hight if you change one spring only. One spring will be brand new and sprightly firm and tother will be saggy old with god knows how many miles on the clock, it will sit at a differant hight and give a lop sided car. Same with shocks and wishbone bushes.
Idealy you want a matching set all round but you can get away with an axle pair.

Yes, KYB do a spring that suits the self leveling setup

Having read the comments when I replace my leaking rear self levelling shock, are you saying I have to replace both? I understand the reasons for this on coils and tyres but what would the reason be on shocks?
-
As mentioned previously in the post, one side will be worn, so will provide a different level of damping than a new one, creating imbalance.
Always do both sides. :y

yeah, i nearly went into all that...
same, differant ware rates, knackered old oil and damping valves in olds shocks will give differant damping to a new shock. For instance ohlins, who make very high quality suspension components, state road shocks should be serviced every two years, and competition use involves a far shorter service interval. If youl see the oil coming out of the unit, in extreme cases its like water compared to what they put in new, basickly you get a loss of damping as time and use goes on an as the damping oil degrades.

you pay thr vx trade club price at a dealer. Vx do their own card which is a bit more difficult to get hold of. Autobahn stormers have negotiated their own deal to access the exact same scheme, so you pay the same trade club price as vx trade club card holders do, you just have a differant card is all. Some less helpfull dealers have been known to be fussy over the abs card, if they get stropy tell them straight, the card is valid.
