Im thinking of droping the car by 30mm by fitting new struts and springs (complete Bilstein kit). Is the M V 6 lower than a standard mig or the same. Advert on LMF site just states its for a v6. With mine being a 2001 MV6 would it make it much lower?

mv6 is slightly lower than any other mate, but i reckon you need to go a bit lower if you want to go for the ultimate look if its the look your after. :y

I do want it as low as poss without scraping road but can only seem to find springs that go down to 30mm.

You could always get your originals compressed at a price of around £15 a corner, but this is actually frowned upon by some, this is a thing i was considering to save a bit of wedge. :-/

Remember to tell your insurance company about this modification, and be prepared to pay a great deal more insurance because of it.
If you don't tell them, you are effectively in breach of your insurance agreement, so are driving without insurance. This is a criminal offence and could get very, very expensive in the event of an accident.
There is a lot more to modding a car than just "spannering" a few bits :)

have look on ebay for PI springs they do -40mm had them on my last omega look good 8-)

Where do you draw the line in when to tell insurance about these "mods".Do you tell them about an induction kit or bigger wheels?

They might look good, but they're so weak, they're nearly a fortnight.
They really don't keep their temper for long, and although cheap, you'll be buying some more in a year or so.
Seen it many times with PI's so what did I put on the front of my Carlton? Yep - PI's!!! Only a temp thing I said.......
::)
They ride bloody awful - on the Carlton at least- too!!! :D
Another point - as a "Rule of thumb", more than a 30mm drop and the suspension geometry can become a mile out, eating tyres, tramlining and other symptoms.
Hate to see you waste your money is all! :y

I will stick to 30mm max then.

Legally ... yes you should .. at every renewal or start you are asked "has the car been changed from standard" .... :)
-
You need to tell your insurance company of EVERY mod you undertake, induction kit included...and yes they will most likely charge you more. Mine wanted an extra £50 just because I had a K&N cone fitted.
If you don't and they find out, such as after a crash you are VERY unlikely to be covered for your loss although they may cover 3rd parties.
It amazes me with all the boy racers running around with small, modded hatchback cars...chances are that most if not all, haven't told their insurance companies and hence are not covered....all well and good until they whack someone.
-
I believe the insurances companies look at like this, if you fit performance parts (engine/suspension/filters etc)you are going to drive it faster. If you fit flash wheels/bodykits etc you are more likely to have the wheels or the car stolen.
All this adds to the risk the insurance conpany is taking.
Annoying at times, but also understandable.

I have MV6 springs fitted to my CD and they have dropped her a little from standard. Depending on where you read the information the MV6 sits 15mm to 20mm lower than the standard mig's, Candyman can correct me if I'm wrong as he has Vauxhall software which iirc states they are 20mm lower than standard migs.
One thing for sure, they improve the handling!! Still no rally car, but removes the barghe feeling from my estate/caravan

As replied in other posts about this before,i never tell the insurance about anything i do to mine and certainly will never tell em,dont we all reckon they rip us lot off enough >:(,if anything always act thick,e.g i dident know the car was modded, dont really know much about em. ::)

MV6's do sit lower than the rest.
The Master & Myself fitted Bilstein Shocks & Irmscher Springs to mine which honestly makes the car a different animal.
The Master enjoyed scaring me yet again once they were fitted ;D
Mrs. Loo-knee does not like it though as the ride if far to hard for her liking, but I think it is far better :y
Hope this helps

From memory the MV6 sits lower due to shorter dampers, springs are the same.
My old MV6 had full Irmscher springs and dampers, made a considerable improvement.
You will be very lucky to find a new set for sale now.
2nd option is to source a set of Irmscher springs.
If only there was someone who had a brand new set sitting in their shed that they haven't got round to fitting yet, and as they are likely to be getting rid of the CDX soon they will prob sell them ::)

if you take the risk of bad ride quality and frequent part changes ,then its ok.. :-/

What you're doing is illegal fella - as you're telling them to insure a car that really isn't what you say it is.
Also, ignorance is no excuse, I'm afraid, as all policies state this somewhere (or words/meanings to that effect) - my missis works in motor claims, and if they decide you're not eligible in a the event of a claim, then you effectively HAVE NO INSURANCE, which means an investigatio (which you will pay for), court, fines, costs, possibly internment.
Seemples!
IF you find yourself in a position that you or a third party needs to claim on your insurance, you'll most likely find the insurance company WILL NOT pay out, and furthermore, you'll probably never be able to get insurance for a car again for years. It's a problem that the ABI are taking seriously.
So really, you're being the very irresponsible driver that we have to pay for on our policies.
