Did you actually fill it up or just stick a small amount in?
From experience of other Vauxhall models, if you run it low enough for the light to come on it doesn't seem to register fuel added unless it's more than about 20L :y :y

had mine empty and put £5 in and it moved of empty. clean'd out the tank before changing filter.

lazydocker said it about right. The tank float has probably got itself stuck.
You need to at least half fill it, more is even better so an upward pressure is applied to the tank float. Going over a few speed humps quickly to give an extra added nudge is an idea too.
I doubt whether the unit itself, or the wiring is faulty if it worked perfectly until you ran it dry. Last resort would be to take the tank unit out of the tank and find out what is making it stick. Its not too bad a job.

If only a small amount put in, the software on instrument panel doesn't register it.
As the FC is feed from instrument panel, that doesn't register it either.
