Post by: jack68 on 25 January 2010, 15:16:26
Just had the car serviced and the plugs weren't changed due to "oil in the wells".  What do i need to do and how do i do it.

Probably it means cam cover gaskets are gone

Yep, camcover gaskets need replaced with genuine VX only .Breathers need cleaning out to prevent the same thing happening aagain in the near future.Needs doing asap otherwise the oil will ruin the plug leads and DISpack. There is a guide in the relavant section if you want to DIY, or if you arent going to do that drop Darth Loo-Knee a pm, he is a wandering Omega mechanic and has done the job lots of times. :y

About £70 iirc plus the correct sealant, and you need a torque wrench with a range which goes down to 8nm.  :y

The plastic cam covers are fine its the heavy fisted idiots that overtighten the bolts that are the problem or those who don't clean the breathers  :-X :-X

All Omega cam covers are plastic, don't be fooled into thinking metal covers are any better, they are worse, they cause bigger problems.

The man has had a busy weekend what with his tour of London, including multiple camblet and cam gasket changes... and I think he was doing a HG for someone yesterday!

He's a real trooper though so hopefully he'll get back to you soon! :y
