Despite having fitted new front discs (I was going to fit rear too but couldn't be ars*d to disturb the hydraulics - and they're not too bad after all), new pads all round and a new pad wear sensor I've still got a pad wear warning on the dash.
Any ideas?

Just one new sensor? Shouldn't your car have two? Did you you break one when fitting? .... they're easily broken. The light is the dash because one or both sensors are open circuit. ;)

Ive always got it on mine, but I'm sure thats just down to a corroded sensor. It is a pain though, as youre never sure whether youve got a problem or not. On the other hand , as autos tend to eat brake pads ,mine get checked out regularly enough. I also have the "brakelight" appear as a warning as well. Maybe they are somehow linked but cant see why/how and theres nothing wrong with the brakelights :-/

Only one side had a sensor fitted - the wire the other side was capped off. So I only fitted a new one in place of the one that was there! (The pad wear warning was never there before so I just presumed one would be enough.)
If the car should have two I'll buy a fresh pair and re-instate the capped one. Thanks.

Short out the connector where the sensors plug in & the message should go away ie remove the ceramic from a worn sensor, short the wires together & plug in in place of the sensor.
Brake light check. Have you tried dealer bulbs? Cheap bulbs tend to be problematic. ;) :y

Short out the capped one & see what happens. If the message goes away, then your new sensor on the other side is OK. Go from there. :y

A multimeter will soon reveal the location of fault ;)

Do you mean short it to the chassis?

no, there are 2 wires in the sensors.....short them out, and the message should disapear (ie stick a paperclip in the socket) to prove the sensor is duff.
(dont leave a paperclip in, as it will rust and knacker the connector, if leaving with no sensor, or just 1 as some of us do, then just cut the old bit off that went into the pad, and join the wires together and hipe out the way, job done)
