Remove driveshaft, tap metal cover off outer CV joint, remove clips from gaiter and cut off, clear all the grease and clean shaft, remove circlip from outer end of shaft and tap shaft through outer joint,. Repack inner CV joint with spec grease, fit new inner gaiter/bellows and refit and tighten clips. Fit outer bellows onto driveshaft, refit outer CV joint and refit circlip into groove. Fill outer CV joint with spec grease then locate bellows and refit clips. Replace metal cover that was initially removed. Ideally renew circlip from inner end of shaft then refit driveshaft

cheers rob i will give that a go. Going to sound thick hear . A drift . Is that a chisel ? :y

Similar to a centre punch use it to "drift" off the metal plate by tapping in an even fashion

cheers rob managed to get the cap off . Could not find the circlip so what i done was put a bearing puller on the end and got it off that way . Was that the only circlip that was on the spline bit of the shaft ? It all went back together ok so heres hoping
