Title: Where is best to buy...............
Post by: ScottieMV6 on 27 January 2010, 16:11:05
Manifold studs?

Going to renew all mine while heads are off after advice from James.

Is it genuine only or will somewhere on ebay (such as Trechii) be ok?

The ones that came off were not copper (AFAIK) and they were studs with a nut so definitely didn't have a torx head?? :-? :-? :-?

Just dug out my invoice for mine which were from Vauxhall main dealer, without discount:
10x £0.78
£7.80
£1.17 vat
£8.97 total  :y

I remember now-the heatshield bolts were £1.78ea+vat, so I did not buy those-dealer said only came in 10s  >:(

Hope this helps  :y

Thats great. So this shows it doesn't cost as much as you thought to keep your omega in good nick :)
PS I was able to buy heatshield bolts singly so I am surprised they said they only come in 10's. I think i have one at home that you can have or advise how many you need and i can post you them.

The originals will not be copper and will not have a torx head. Vauxhall superceeded them with the copper type because it does not expand as much when subjected to heat (or so i'm told) and the torx head just helps when tightening up.

Interesting-mine had identical torx head bolts to take out-3 were snapped off.  Guessing it had been a problem before and these were not the factory ones then?

I would assume so since my originals were not copper and did not have a torx head.

Interestingly I got andyc to send me a set and I have received proper studs and nuts. The nuts are copper though but the studs are not.

Assume there must be two types? :-?

Just had a reply from andyc and apparently the copper stud has been replaced by the stud and copper nut :y
