Title: Sluggish acceleration
Post by: Hannah Judes Dad on 25 January 2010, 13:10:44
Went for a motorway journey in the state yesterday and to say my car was slow was an understatement. It was very lumpy and took ages (relatively speaking) to get to 70.When we were going up the slightest incline the gearbox would change down a gear but the engine sounded smoother at the higher revs with no juddering.I am assuming that I need to replace the dispack, plugs and rocker cover gaskets.I am also thinking atf fluid as well. The engine also sound dry? on the right hand side(as you look at it) waterpump about to go? There is a smell of tar as well(am I about to overtake cruisetopoland with triggers broom?) Thanks in advance as always. Please bear in mind that I have only got £75 to fix the car until the end of next month so what is the best option?

When my water pump was on the way out I noticed the pulley wobbling, and when my dispack went it was misfiring very badly and didn’t want to tick over

Tick over is uneven and I have cleaned and lubed the ICV with no improvement.
