Title: multi rams not working
Post by: tigers_gonads on 24 January 2010, 21:51:50
as above  :'(
now its stopped raining and the snow has gone, i thought it would be a good idea to sort out the rams  :y
checked the vac pipes iaw the maintenence guide. all ok but the front and back still don't move  :(

question time, has the vacuum tank at the front, near the front rams got a non return valve on it ?  i'm wondering if they might be conected the wrong way round because both the rams are inop

this is the 3ltr lump that i've had so many problems with  :'(   so i don't know if they ever worked  :'(

any idea's welcome  :y

cheers

The plastic nipple on the solenoid at the bagpipes that feeds the multiram has also broken on mine.... is there a way to fix it temporarily without replacing the whole solenoid?

maybe post a wanted add in the test zone and ask uncle Jimbob to move to parts section for you.

Or swap it for the one that actuates the air injection setup on the rad as a temporary measure.

This may sound dense.... sorry... do you mean:

- physically swap the broken solenoid/nipple with the solenoid that actuates the air injection setup on the rad
OR
- just fit the pipe from the multiram onto the solenoid that actuates the air injection setup on the rad

If it's the latter.... then.... will it actuate at 4,100 rpm like the multiram solenoid?

And finally..... the rediculously obvious... where is it on the rad...? any pics??  ;)

Thanks as always
Raf :)

Ditto to that, though I had nothing so fancy as a screw so used some electrical tape. My rams are not working either, so I'm wondering if that double Tee piece near the brake servo has more to it than meets the eye.

How did you get on today?

Hi Tigers,

did you get any further with your multi-rams? For info I found my problem today. The forward vac tank has had it.

I had already proven I was getting vac to the tank but not from it. Pulled it out today and it has obviously been bodged in the past as the inlet spigot has somehow been pushed through and has made a hole on the other side of the tank, so I have been gaily sucking unmetered air.

I have now linked the vac in to the vac out until I can get a new tank, but the rams work occaisionally and she already seems to perform better.

Thats what I did, worked fine under normal use but was quite sluggish under heavy throttle. New tank made massive difference, sourced mine from a breaker on here for about £10 I think.
