Can anyone help? I have done the paperclip test and come up with code 87. Air con cut off relay voltage low. How do I cure this as the management light is on and I presume as this is on the car is in limp mode and not running as it should? Help!
Thanks in advance, Matt.

Are you sure that was the only code? May be wrong but I dont think the A/C code would cause it to go into limp mode and give an EML light.

I'm sure that was the only code, it flashed the 12 code three times then 87 three times then the 12 code again then the 87 again so I presume that's the only code.

Where are you Matt?
I have cheapo "My Naff Code Reader" diagnostics reader, many OOFers have some kind of reader, admins have the proper tech2s.
Might be worth getting plugged in and having a look through :y
I30-jealous-like these and the Cee'ds!

I'm in north london. Might be worth plugging it in to see what's what. As for the i30 its a cracking little car! Its as good round town as the omega is on motorways!

something not right here, paper clip test only reads engine codes, wouldn't expect that fault to show on paper clip test or cause an engine issue...surely?
suspect wrong code or wrong translation perhaps?
-
Checked it again and thats all that comes up! Completely confused me! >:(
Is it likely to be a fuse or dodgy relay IF that is the real fault?
-
I'd start by looking at what the fault code is saying: check fuses, then check the relay.
you can clear stored codes with 20 (or 30 can;t remeber) clean starts (ig off, ig on and wait until the ABS/TC lights go out) no need to start each time

:y :y Thank you, will give that a go. I was just a bit confused as to what, 'voltage low' meant. I presumed it must be fuse popped or relay shafted so will check.

All cured! It was fuse 29 blown. Still a bit confused as the little picture seems to be a tow hook but I don't have one! And the code was an air con fault even on a code reader! Confused? I most certainly am!

All we ask is that people do not discuss how to obtain/distribute/borrow/acquire/use illegal software/media ;)
In the case of code readers, one of the manufacturers has been particularly successful in shutting down sites that blatantly do so.
This site is in my name, so all the letters from lawyers come to me personally, as would court orders (always managed to resolve before it got to that point). It takes a great deal of my precious time, causes a lot of stress, and in many cases a not insignificant amount of money (solicitors aren't cheap) to deal with these issues.
After the last one a few months ago (not OOF, but one of the other forums I run), I'm not sure I can be bothered to fight another.

Remember, the ECU will only tell you what it thinks is wrong, and its up to the operator to decipher what its telling them - sadly, this is where many garages and dealers are piss poor.

I have to agree, this was a main dealer that told me AND couldnt find a blown fuse!!
Recommended members from here will be looking after my car from now on!! My dad kept a detailed history for the car and the last 3 services have cost him in excess of 700 quid each all of which were way over the top.
Anyway all sorted thank you all for the info/help :y
