Title: Estate rear compartment cover...
Post by: mudflap on 31 January 2010, 18:02:18
I am the new owner of a 1996 2.0 Omega Estate, anyone know how to fit the concertina-like rear compartment cover? I have one but it is not fitted.

Also I have ordered a driver's manual but would like to know what some of the switches and lights on the instrument panel are for - there is a little "sunshine" like icon that appears...?
Many thanks in anticipation!  :)

All Estates had the luggage cover, someone must have removed it, they just slot in from memory, best ask a breaker from here for one  :y

Download the Omega manual in PDF format, from here:

The sunshine thing is operated by a switch on the gear knob ;D

I was wondering what sunshine could have been  ;D

Its the 'sport' mode, turned on by the S button on the gear stick. Lets the engine rev harder, and hold gears longer  :)

wow thanks, what a busy, friendly lot you are!  8-)

will have a look at the gear stick, though it is an automatic, will that be the same?  the car does seem to hold the gears for a bit longer than i was used to on my last automatic.

cheers tunnie for the download!  :y

Only Autos have the S button, as manuals its all dependent on how lazy your leg is  ;D

With Sport engaged it will hold gears a lot longer!

The only possible sunshine thingy is the snowflake button next to the gear selector and it's the winter-mode of the box. Sport -button is on the stick and has an S on it, nothin sunshiny on that  :-X

The other option for 'sunshine thingy' is aircon button on dashboard for those cars that are not equipped with climate control.

Yes it was the Sport button, though very easy to trigger accidentally. many thanks for your advice  :y

the snowflake thing is interesting - lots of gadgets to learn.
