Title: Battery removal
Post by: GaryBC on 05 February 2010, 14:18:53
Old Father Haynes says "Note: On models with a Vauxhall anti-theft warning system (ATWS), the battery negative terminal must be disconnected within 15 seconds of the ignition being switched off to prevent the alarm system being triggered."

Sounds like a lot of running around the car and a bit hit 'n' miss to boot! Is there an easier/better way? (Like pulling a fuse first, maybe?)

easy really, loosen the bolt, car on and off, remove the lead.

it stops the alarm (well powersounder) going off.

Loosen the -ve terminal clamp bolt first, then turn ignition on/off, then back to battery to lift connector off.....?

Must type faster  ;D

Thanks people. I'd not thought of slackening the terminal first. D'oh!!

That'd defeat the whole idea of having an alarm if it could be side stepped that easily!  ;)  :y
