Title: query fault code ??? any help appreciated
Post by: puffa on 05 February 2010, 09:24:21
hi,

This morning had the EML flash at me then go constant and the car was running like a bag of old nails, anyway did pedal trick to collect fault codes and the normal 0420,0430 popped up along with 0300 and 0304, so guess i need to change the coil pack on bank 2,4,6 and i guess thats what is causing the random misfire fault code  (0300) and the running lumpy like its on five cylinders,  I have only in the last few months changed 1,3,5... due to a similar problem but with bank 3.

The only code that came up that I cant work out is 0115  Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input or could be
P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input

what is it, how do i fix it, where do i start ???? Any ideas ???

Cheers

Steve

Its probably an old fault code the ecu is digging up,which just needs clearing,as vauxhalls like to play these games sometimes. ::) ;)

Right 0300 and 0304.... remove the 246 coil pack, check the centre rubber for oil, splits or white scorching and check the plug wells for oil etc. A misfire like that is normally caused either bu a fluid letting the spark escape or a split in the boot doing the same.

If you find it is split then just as a stop gap wrap a couple of turns of insulation tape over the cracked section and that'll stop the misfire.

Engine coolant temp sensor on the rear face of the engine between heads, Single connector

would this sensor be the cause of the check coolant message on the display screen or the need to change the expansion tank for the sensor inside ?

No, ECT sends temp info to the ECU. "Check coolant" relates to sensor in expansion tank. If level is OK, odds on the sensor is breaked
