Post by: tipon on 07 February 2010, 08:53:30

You need the car on a code reader to check the fault, it could be anything. It sounds like your lack of acceleration is because the car is setting off & staying in 3rd gear. My car did the same when I left the throttle position switch off.  ::)  ::)

Suggests your MID is not the correct one and has been replaced at some point in its life, it needs to be programed with tech2 to match your engine, and spec. MPG readings and so on could be inaccurate  :y

Has the extra pedal been added since it left the factory?  ;)

I got the same message on my car & limp mode. Turned out to be the cam sensor. Dont know why it ses auto gearbox fault when the cam sensor has gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

gearbox goes into limp as engine tells it to. Its well behaved, does what its told ;D

Remember, when ECU detects abnormalities (sensor issues), its running 'error handling' routines which are probably not the most intelligent, and designed to cover many different scenarios. Limp is purely a mode to get you home (or to garage), not for ongoing use :)

Yes it has been replaced when I realised the displays are actually supposed to show something legible and I've got to get around to getting it re-programmed. It makes me smile everytime I see it. Simple things... :)

Worth a trip to Kevin Wood in Alton to get that sorted with tech2  :y
