Ok guys. How about a thread that outlines all the parameters that bring up a fail light or fault code on the omega so that Reading the readout from a scanner Is easier to understand and give us a chance on rectifying the problems
-
Nice idea, can see some good use, and logic spreadsheets...
ie paste an "My Naff Code Reader" log into a spreadsheet, cells could turn green or red depending on values.
guess you would want readings at cold, and running temp....
-
That's the sort of thing I have slot of the data I just want to make sure I have it all then i will make the sheet and post it on here. I want to do it for all the systems so more info the better. So come on guys let's make it as good as possible.
-
I'm going to run "My Naff Code Reader" on mine tonight or tomorrow as I've just received my kit through the post.
Let me know what you want me to save and I'll do it. Do you want the results mailed to you?
-
No thankyou. I have the info. I just want to make a spreadsheet that has all the pass/fail parameters in it so if someone puts their into it they can see at a glance if anything is wrong. For eg if the battery showed 9v or 15v then it would then highlight in red. And the same for every other sensor. Once I get people posting the parameters for a failiure then I will program the speadsheet and post it
-
im not sure anyone will have that data in a useful format. Have you got access to TIS at all, that may give the details :-/
-
YEah I got that. Even if people just put the odd bit of info that they know it will be useful
-

guess if your were going full you would need 4 sheets...
2.5/3.0
2.6/3.2
2.0
2.2
hmmm and then diesels :-/
-
Thanks for that, if we can get a few more posted then i can get a comparison from them all to set up this spreadsheet
-
ill do a hot reading when I remember too :y
-
thank you, i appreciate your help
-
no probs, I see the value in the finished article, if its feasable to get there....
thinking on.......things will vary with outside temp, can see anything more than a 'rough guide' being very tricky to code, a lot of variables to contend with.
-
shouldnt be alot of trouble once i have all the data, im trawling the net trying to get omega parameters from everywhere. once done this should produce graphs etc. Its a good project for me to get my teeth back into excel let alone learn a lot more about the car. Sort of stuff im looking at is idle should be 650 but if aircon is on the 750 at full engine temp etc but if cold ie 0-50 degrees it should be whatever then the reading will be highlighted red if too far outside of this. Then the same on as much of the other stuff i can. Thats where i will need all the input i can get and all the files of readings i can get.
If someone has a fault on their car then if they can say whats showing (fault number) then this will hopefully show in the data and i can program these faults into the spreadsheet.
So once again, if anyone knows the parameters to bring on a fault code or where i can find this info, please let me now

Mass Air Flow Sensor 44 kg/h
That's a lot of air. :o Then again, cold.. And idle speed at 1300 RPM. :-/
The problem IMHO is that there is limited diagnosis you can do with a set of static parameters. I tend to at least look at the figures at idle and a fast idle, and make sure the engine is hot. Often a little drive with it logging it handy too.
A set of ballpark figures when hot at idle and fast idle at say 2500 RPM for each engine type would be a good start though.

Thanks Kevin, looks like we are heading in the right direction
