Title: I will do it one day....
Post by: Kiksomass on 16 February 2010, 17:09:04
I've not posted on here for a while :-[. Still got the Miggy and still haven't changed the oil in my autobox! However, the prop seal, cam cover gasket and other common problems have been sorted. The maintenance guides are spot on, so thanks guys to all involved :y. Two more jobs coming up...steering idler and f/o/s wheel bearing. Its been rumbling for months yet still no play and an MOT pass. Only does it at 24-28mph. Turn up the stereo and problem goes! :D ;D ::)Actually, the guide seems to show the new hub on but nothing on getting the old one off. Pic missing? :-/

Once you've got the hub nut off (tight as f*ck), the hub comes off without too much bother.

Assuming the same as a Carlton/Senator...........

Big, hefty, long f**k off scaffolding pole on a windy-gun (32mm?) socket should do it!
Summat like 330Lb/sq.inch, IIRC.
Make sure the new bearing is as tight as the old one was too, or you could be doing the job again very soon - they don't like being lose by any means!

Thanks fellas. Fortunately, where I work we have a massive array of HGV fitters tools. Cracking the nut shouldn't be a problem and retorquing with a massive wrench should ensure it don't come off again! Not looking forward to the steering idler though-that sounds a mare to free itself :o
